Upgrading BR-8 to VS-2480CD or HD

Hi everyone, I'm new here. Very helpful site.

Within the next few months I will be starting on my home studio. My current one consists of a Boss BR-8. The first thing I plan on buying after the room is built is the Roland VS2480. My question is, what's the difference between the HD and the CD model? (other than the price) Also, if anyone of you has experience with this, anything you could tell me about it would be greatly appreciated. Especially anything negative that you wish you knew before you bought it. Based on the research I've done, it looks like a pretty solid piece of equipment.

Thanks in advance.

Peace!

Well the differance is HD is for Hard Disk, which is the drive for storage, sometimes they are removable so you can swap them out. And CD is for Compact Disc, meaning the unit is built with an internal CD writer. I have only used one as a demo in the store, I am a PC DAW user. I find it much easier to edit and do the tasks at hand quickly with the PC. The portables such as the one you are looking at do not give you much for editing compared to the PC, and they are not very intuative. But having said that, you are allready familiar with what they can and cant do, so I wont preach on that. And yes, the unit is a very stable unit, and fairly reliable. If this is what you need, for whatever reasons, then That unit is one of the better buys out there. But if you truly dont need the portable type recorder, I would highly suggest spending that money on a PC as the price of the 2480 would build you a very nice recording PC. I think there might be acouple of users on here that have used them, so give it a few days and see what comes back.
