Just wanted to say thanks to a lot of folks on this board that have helped me over the past few years by way of responding to various posts on this site. This place is a Godsend for a lot of people who are as infatuated with home recording as I am.

We dropped our sophomore compilation album today on cinco de Mayo called "Sleepy Hollows Presents...The Declaration of Indepents". Hopefully people will get the irony. The album is released in conjunciton with our new website www.sleepyhollows.com The site revolves around the new album but also showcases the new studio which has various accoustic and equipment upgrades - a lot of which is courtesy of what I have learned from people on this site. You can see pics and even a spoof video of what we've done and how we are set up.

From what I have read on here, I realize some of the music is may not be everyone's style, but the new site allows you to preview snippets of all the tracks that range from reggae to r&b to pop to underground hip hop. My brother and I produced and mixed the whole album. A lot is is sampled from people/groups like Satriani, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Van Halen, America, etc. so it usually is a bit more pleasing to non-traditional urban music fans.

Anyway, have a look and listen and let me know what you think. It feels so good to finally wrap up an album and we are looking forward to constructive feedback. Hope you enjoy it half as much as we enjoyed making it...

I don't like it, I love it! Awesome work, wow! Studio looks great!

I've forgiven you for using the sampled guitar in 'Show Me a Sign'.

This is nice stuff! Really. I like rapping, but i will admit i hate most rap lyrical content (subject or nonstop profanity i mean). This is deep! and the music, this really is good. Down to earth, emotional. Nice interesting studio effects (reversing the sample) but not so much to get in the way. The mix is nice. Just, really i like it! Are the lyrics online on your website, eh heck i'll probably just go browse your site later tonight anyway. Nice!

I woulda been all over this a couple years ago. In The Streets is dope. Sound quality on all the songs is nice. Good work and good luck with the album.

Wow! Thanks for the replies. I'm most pleased to read that the mixes and overall sound quality are good. We produced our first compilation album and I "mixed it" but too be honest, I didnt really know about compression, eq, etc. and none of the beats were tracked out so I was basically just doing levels and pans. It was one of the main reasons that I was led to, and found, this site which as I mentioned earlier has been a wealth of information. The other thing that has me smiling is that the snippets on the website arent even the final mastered versions so its making me feel even better! Thanks for taking the time to check it out and the well wishes. Hopefully a few years from now I'll have a post on here about how I recorded and mixed my first live band album...
