How in the world do I record to the Cakewalk HSver7 with my UX2? I have the UX2 plugged in via USB, and when I load the cakewalk, it wont let me record. I am not sure how to get the tracks to record.

1) install drivers for UX2, which would somewhere include plugging in the ux2 to PC

2) tell Cake to use the ux2 inputs and outputs for it's I/O

3) create track, and tell it to listen on one of the UX2 inputs. This is also known as 'arming' a track to record. Software has to know what input to listen to.

4) press record, and wait for fame

As an aside, you should be able to switch input monitoring on and off, so you can hear the incoming track through your monitoring solution (on), or not. It depends on your situation, as both ways are valid.

ahh thank you....when I get some nice monitors I will swtich the input(i may ask later on for help)...but the funny thing is, when I record, it actually records, then on the bottom of DAW, it goes from RECORDING to DROPOUT....any idea?

ASIO uses only one interface, not two, so if you were tracking using your interface, but then playing back using built-in soundcard, then ASIO will stop this from working. WDM can do this, but ASIO usually is better, lower latency, etc.

I'd advise using the better interface for everything, as I think was referred to in the other thread. The converters will be better on your good interface, so your latency will be better / lower.

I'm thinking that's what the cable may be for, I can't quite remember atm.

yeah, I would need to get speakers for the UX2, and use the Line 6 as my "main" soundcard by disabling others in Device Manager.....I figured ASIO would be the better choice, but on the other hand its going to cost me for new monitors, but oh well.

Actually, the cable mentioned in the other thread is to route the line6 to your current pc soundcard/speakers. Your PC soundcard is still the main one, your are just monitoring the UX2 through the "line in" jack.

If you wanted to run your current speakers directly out of your line6 (without purchasing new monitors) and use it as your main soundcard, you would get the same cable except female on the 1/8" end.

Either way you want to do it is only a cable away. Adding monitors will be nice, but not a requirement for either solution.

well im going to go to the radio shack, since its the nearest, and see if they have either cable. The nearest music supply store is about 45 mins away.
