so do they use a chorus effect and like edit the settings or record it multiple times... and ive heard of harmonizers which i think multiplies the voice itself
Ok so i want like a chorus to sound like this -

Apr 03, 2010 09:08 am thats mostly not an effect, they most likely just recorded her many times doing the harmonies. The best way to get a good multiple voice sound is to actually record multiple voices, at multiple distances from the mic and such
Im sure any kind of digitalization u may hear is just some fine tuning to make sure everything comes out nice and clean

Apr 05, 2010 02:34 am 4 would be a good start, but in the end the answer is however many it takes. The more u have the bigger it will sound, but the more care ull need to keep it from getting messy and busy.
I would suggest starting with 4 as u said, but taking a bit more care in the micing of ur singers so that the space is in the sound. If ur doing 4 voices per side, have ur further 2 singers literally further from the mic when recording them, so when u space them all in the mix theyll sound more natural.

Apr 05, 2010 01:55 pm Voice talent like that can probably take 10 takes and they're all really close together.
If you're not so precise, then you could use the three best ones, but double each, and do little changes to each one, a little behind, a little chorus / flange / phaser, etc. Then mix the levels to taste.
That should sound pretty thick and chorusy, i'd think.
Then put a tasty reverb on that vocal group/bus, and you should be stylin.
of course, ymmv, imho, etc.
