I melted a inductor on the crossover board. So I removed the other inductor from my other speaker to identify. No Idenifying numbers, local electronics stores can't help me out. The speaker is a m2- 215, 2 15's and a horn. I can't find a replacement crossover anywhere that is 4ohms 700 watts with a 3500hz slope.
Would the only option be, to triamp my speakers. I have a 3 way xover. I really don't want to add another amp as my amp rack is full. ANy suggestons?
Great forum that I just found, and have been doing alot of reading!

Mar 19, 2010 02:30 pm Yeah, if you can't find a post-amp crossover anywhere that would work, I'd suspect adding an amp would be your only choice...
Couldn't you call the manufacturer and get a replacement part? I suspect you've tried that though...
Mar 19, 2010 06:00 pm Give jay or Dave a call over at Loudspeaker plus. They maybe able to help you find the right part.

Mar 19, 2010 10:18 pm I have tried to contact Madison on several occasions, never a call back or email return. I have had these speakers for a little over a year, have used them 10 times total. I have had xover problems from the get go, and they have been no help. The first problem was a capicitor not attached to the xover, fell off at the leads coming out of the cap. Could not find a replacement cap. , I wired 2 caps together to get as close to the original cap.. value
Rob,
I talked to Dave yesterday, He said He could probably repair my xover, but had no replacement. I think repairing a crappy xover will be just problems down the road.
I don't understand why I can't find a upgrade xover. Peavey has 2 15's and a horn rated at 1000 watts as does JBL.
Next question would be what amp could I use to drive just horns? I need less than 100 hunderd watts a channel. Crown has a cheap amp for 250.00 bucks Crown XLS 202D pro-audio.musiciansfriend...fier?sku=481584
Mar 19, 2010 10:28 pm The 202 is great, but a little more power then you need.
Crown use to make one hell of a great small amp for just this sort of situation. It was called the d 75a. I think that you can still find them out there.

It seems that the price is all over the map. But, it's only 35 watts per channel, but the sound is fantastic! I could poke around for ya, and see what I come up with if you want? Or, if you want to go with something entirely different, I can suggest some other brands for ya.
Mar 25, 2010 01:04 am Well very disapointed with these speakers. I also blew the horn driver, without blowing the 2 light fuses.
I have a few old mf1-x cabs with rx 22 drivers in them, but they are threaded. The madisons are 2 bolt mounts.
I have not had much luck trying to find a 16" x 9" horn with a 1 - 3/8" thread.
It would look like Frankenstein if I stacked these old peavey horns on top.
I am at a loss of what to do! Other than just ditch the speakers and start all over. The only thing I can say about the speakers is that they are well built birch cabinets, with crappy componets!
Mar 25, 2010 07:57 pm Dude! That sucks!
Sorry to hear that you are having so much trouble.
As far as the 16" x 9" lens goes, I think that Community use to make a lens that size.
Did you try them?
