Hi

I think someone can help.

I tried to record a source and a vocal by using Line strereo and Mic input at the same time with TonePort UX2 by DAW Cuase LE4. However, I was unable to record

In GearBox, source input selection, I can see MIC & INSTRUMENT but not MIC & LINE Stereo

Please help me

Just checked my DAW, My guess is because its a 2 i/o device. It can record the line inputs as stereo, or the mic inputs as stereo. Or it can record one mic and one line. But it can't record 2 lines and 1 mic, bc that'd be 3 i/o's. Make sense?

So there is no way to record a key board ( line stereo) and a vocal ( mic) at the same time?

If so, I made a big mistake when I bought TonePort UX2.

Before buying I did ask some questions, and I was advised that not only a key board , but also I can use a karaoke player as a (Line stereo). You can search the recording section for Toneport ux2 you will se my question.

If so, It is a lesson to be learnt. This forum is unreliable.
Please, if someone has no knowledge, please do not post any advice. It will help to save time and money for the other members

You can record a keyboard and a vocal track just fine at once. Just record the keyboard and send it to line input 1, or the instrument channel. Same thing with the karaoke player, send it to one of the channels. You can even record in your DAW as it being a stereo track, which lets you use the spacial FX in PodFarm. And if for whatever reason, you need your keyboard to be panned, just use cubase and record them separately. If you're using it to record a live performance, then the mono keyboard will sound great. Unless you're using a synth or something with a lot of obvious panning sweeps, you're not going to be missing out on anything.

The people here have plenty of knowledge. Several are professionals who are still kind enough to stop by here and offer a word of advice. Especially on something as simple as the number of inputs and outputs on a device, which even in the description of the item in an online store should tell you. If you didn't understand something clearly, you should have asked first.

Hmmph. I could have put a lot more bite into that last paragraph. oh well. its hard for me to be mean, even as you're insulting every person on this forum. Either way, get over it. If all you need to record at a time is 2 instruments, you're fine recording them in mono. If you needed stereo channels, you should have asked us more questions. There are also cheap ways to get another 2 channels added to your system if you need it.

lol, i don't know that much really. I just have no life and good internet access ;D which makes me an avid forum member. But i can do a good deal to help those at the stage of progress i was at 6 months ago when i came across this site, so i figure it's doing some good. But ya i mean seriously dude, if you come to these forums and know so little about recording that you don't understand you can record a keyboard in mono, or that a stereo channel takes 2 inputs, thats fine. But don't insult us. Especially not before you even realize that the gear is still able to do what you want.

yeah man wtf, this place IS very reliable.
ive learnt more off of this forum about recording than i have off any of my friends. and what fragile said.. the fact that there are people who will actually reply to simple questions is proof enough.

i ask so many basic and often stupid questions, and im just glad that people take the time to help me out, YOU SHOULD BE TOO.

Hi Fragile

Thanks for your reply, Sorry I don't mean to insult the others

Someone was sure that I can use UX2 to record live performance karaoke player and vocal at once.

Could you please let me show me how to record (live) without having a mono channel for stereo source ( like karaoke Player)

Thanks

Well, the simplest thing is to just upload the music onto your PC. Karioke CD's can be ripped into mp3's or wav's right? (not sure, someone else correct me if i'm wrong). Then you won't have any of the possible noise introduced by the karioke player. Then once you rip it to your PC, import the file into your daw. Get the tempo right (if you want). And then when it comes time to record whoever you're gonna record with kariokee, just hit record for the vocal track, and the karioke track will play as well, run the outputs into your PA or whatever you're using for karioke.

Thats the best solution, depending on what you're doing. If you're just recording some drunks at a bar, who need the lyrics on screen, the easiest thing to do would just be plug the karioke output into the UX2's line 1 input or instrument channel. A lot of pieces of equipment are meant to work well stereo or mono. It'll sound fine. But if you really want that stereo image, you can replace it later at home in your DAW by doing the importing thing i talked about earlier. If you set the tempo right, it'll be no problem matching them up. And if you can't get the tempo, just turn the snap off and do it by ear. Then get rid of the live input from the machine.

Man, I've been using a UX2 and UX8 for years now and consider myself "extremely" knowledgable on line6 products but... after reading through the posts I find it hard to take time from "my" day and respond any further than this.
