Behringer Mixer Insert Jack

The manual for the UB2442FX Pro mixer states that the TRS plug to be used as an insert needs to be bridged. This does not make total sense to me as I am a novice engineer.

The way I'm looking at it is this: If the tip and the ring on the plug are bridged ( connected ), electrons will see the two terminals as one connection. How in the world will the plug "send" and "receive" the signal from an outboard processor?

I know I'm simply electronics ignorant, so someone kindly please help me to understand signal path. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Please contact me via my email address and this forum.
Yours,

ha, i see it now =).

Oh yeah, looking at your post again, I don’t think the TIP and RING would be bridged, but RING and SLEEVE. Bridging R and S would make the jack a TS plug. I would think that RING would always have to be separate, lest the jack short itself. Then it’s just a slug, I guess.

I guess I should ask, are you trying too use it as an insert? or tapping signal as a direct out.

I assumed the latter in my earlier reply. Sorry about that.

Knowing what you're trying to accomplish will help us get a better answer.
