Anything I should be weary of when taking apart/painting my Squier? Its kind of a cheapy but I have an affinity for the way it plays. Tobacco Sunburst is just so tired...
I had planned on sending it to a guitar tech so they could make me a graphite nut to go with the Bigsby +bridge I'm having them put in. In a perfect world I'd like to take everything off the body, paint it, and let the luthier put the neck back in a way that doesn't screw anything up. I don't have a lot of free time to devote to getting it playing right again (I do most of my HRC posting from work...I know someone was thinking it, hah)

Jan 27, 2010 12:40 am Well for one thing is don't plan on a tung oil or any other type of clear finish. The wood will be in pieces and not cut from a single block of wood. I did a black squier strat. Sanded it down to the wood and painted it red. It was really pretty easy to do. I think you could get away with scuffing it up and painting it without going right down to the wood. I was hoping to just stain it which is why I sanded it all down. I was disappointed to see it was actually three peices glued together. I painted the back of the neck as well. Turned out pretty good actually. I will dig up some photos of it.
