Can I use a Digi 002 as an audio interface with other systems?

I run primarily Digital Performer (DP) with a Focusrite Saffire audio interface (AI). A friend has an 002 thats just lyring around and many folks want to record in Pro Tools when they come to my studio. He has offered to put it in my rack so others (including himself) can use it.

My question is this - once I set this up, I am assuming it takes the plance of my Focusrite AI - therefore, can I still run DP? Or if I want to run DP am I gonna have to swap a bunch of wires around? OR, if I set up the 002 (and it only runs Pro Tools) do I then leave the Focusrite as is and just tell the computer which soundcard to use whenever I'm in either program?

Also, how does an 002 hook to your computer? Are they firewire? I have a feeling his is a few years old so I'm not sure firwire was an option then. Thanks.

The 002 is a firewire interface, yes, and that'd be how you hook it up. As for working with other programs, I use mine with Reaper and it works pretty much flawlessly.
