Need Help with Tascam 144mkII USB

Ok so I recently purchased the sound module along with a LR stereo cable to record my electronic drums to my computer. I had no problems installing the driver for tascam but im not sure where to go from here. Im new to all this stuff so starting from the bare basics would be best. I tryed using audacity to record but it didnt work well. I got sounds of my drums but they sounded like horrible nintendo quality. Either im doing something wrong with the tascam (wires not hooked up properly) or audacity isnt the program to be doing this? Any suggestions and help would be appreciated. Thanks.
