Faint Fuzz in horn of PA speakers

First time post, probably many more to come as I am a drummer that has been forced into handling pa system & recording operations. Sorry for the length, I'm not sure what information is relevant to the diagnosis.

We have two JBL EON115P-1 pa speakers which we use for our live shows that are run through a yamaha mg16/6fx mixer. The other night, our singer turned on the mixer which had been left on pretty much max volume & 75% gain in channel 1 (his vocal mic) and the master with 1 mic pointed directly at a speaker, another mic pointed directly at a wall, and another mic pointed towards a guitar amp... we're retarded, I know. The highest pitch pingy squeal sound I've ever heard about near shattered our ear drums when he did this. In addition, the mic that had been pointed toward the speaker (which was on and at about full volume when the mixer was turned on) upon tapping on it produced a metal bucket ping echo whenever it was tapped on or spoken into. After twiddling around for a while aimlessly on the mixer the bucket ping sound went away and it seemed like everything was normal.

However, now any time either of the speakers are on I hear a faint static-like buzz coming out of the horns. The output seems to be fine with vocals & audio files, but after that experience I'm ultra paranoid that something is wrong or on the verge of being wrong, and with a show coming up in a week I'm a bit nervous. Can anyone tell me whether or not that faint static buzz coming out of the horns is status quo (don't remember hearing it before, but I've never paid that close attention until after the incident), or have they been damaged somehow & what is the next step for repair/diagnosis?

Thanks for reading.

If your hearing the buzz with nothing going to the speaker. Then you just might just be hearing what is known as transistor noise.

Or, if it's a little more predominate, then you just might have something that is an unbalanced cable.

Either way, it doesn't sound like anything major at all.

The only time you need to worry, is when you singing, or playing, and you hear that buzzing noise. That's when your going to need to take them in for repair.

Just tell the singer to never do that again! :)
