I know this isn't a question directly on recording, ubt if you guys can help me out I'd appreciate it.

Alright, well I've been listening to german electronica for a while, and have decided to try my hand on the Industrial Music scene. Thing is, I know nothing about the hardware I'd need. I know I want a sampler or two, Synths, Drum Machines, things of that nature. Can anyone help me out as to what are some good things to use for this type of music? Thanks

I don't know much about it personally, but what I do know is you will want to look for a good ol' analog synth of some sort...as far as drum machines go, there are a lot of great drum machines out there. Heck if your PC is portable you could use Fruitloops for a lot of that type of tracking...

Yeah, I am most likely be using fruityloops for the drum loops, becuase I do like that program a lot :) If nothing else, I can export the loops as .WAV files, burn them to CD and just bring a CD player on stage, link it up to my PA system and badda-boom I've got enough drum loops for a show.
I know I want an analog synth, but I've seen two different types so far, the rack mount units, and the ones that look like keyboards. besides the obvious lack of a keyboard on one of the units do you know what the differences are on these?
Just so you have some kind of an Idea of what sound I'm going for heres three bands that I'm listening too.

Wumpscut
VNV Nation
and K.M.F.D.M

Thanks DB, and Noize, Mark, and the rest of you guys. Just wait, one day I'll be the one answering the questions and not asking them

Hey Loki, I like the idea of you going that direction. I think you will like playing it. KMFDM are probly my favorite out of that little list. I don't think they have anything that is not dancable.

I am gonna crash tonight, but I will amek ya a nice synth list for tommorrow so come an back ya-all.

loki , I've just started into that area of music and comming up with the eqipment , is just fiugering out what you want to hear come out of it . I personlly use a lot a different stuff from my gibson LP to a Roland VG88 88 key synth , to frootyloops and acid like programes and also i like to put in accustic drums for a NIN type of feel at times . It all comes down to waht you can afford and what all you can imagine doing with it .

Well I've got the imagination for it, but the cash is gonna be a slow deal since I've only got a part-time job where I make about 400 a month, give or take. But yeah, I really feel like this is the direction my music needs to go in, so I have no problem spending money on it. Anyone who knows me will tell you the first thing I care about is my freinds, and after that the only thing I care about is my music. But yeah, this next month I'll be broke, put a speaker system thing on layaway at music-go-round. It's actually a good little deal I got, or at least I think so, a 1000 watt stereo amp with 500 watts per channel, and two 10" speakers and speaker cables.

Ya, money is always the problem, the phrase "starving artist" exists for a reason :-) And as we all know it's an expensive hobby...enter Music-Go-Round, used gear cheaper! Yeah!

:-) Good Luck Loki! sound likeyou will have enough power!

A loaf of bread, Carl Budig dried beef, a can of Hormel chili w/no bean's, and a box of genric saltine's. That will go along way on a budget.

If ya get a gig and make a little Extra, then ya can splurge on bean's and weenie's.

Noize that would be awesome man, thanks a lot. Speaking of lists though you forgot one very important one on the starving artists food list thing.... Ramen Noodles, gotta love those 35cent packs of noodles.

At Cub Foods up here in the NorthLand, they put em on sale like 6 for a dollar. Now that is rockin.

And ya, I did forget, I still eat the darn thing's when the budget calls for it. and when the kid's have cleaned out the cupboard.
