I'm tired of looking at those song titles in their all-cap glamour. Would it be less brutal to use standard capitalization?

I mean...welcome to HRC Fuhuguhgads, got any questions about your mix?

I always go straight to the "community" page here so I always skip the front page. But now that I look at the front page, what the hell? Terrible song titles. I'll have to decline listening on principle.

Based just on title I have judged him as somebody I wouldn't listen to...and haven't...and am hoping they fall off the front page soon. It's borderline something I could take down, but it's not technical "vulgar", just ig'nant.

Well Fuhugugahds if you ever do mosey onto the forum here...it sounds like your drums are in the house next door and my head is inside of a solid state full stack cab with the treble knob dimed. The Tyrannosaurus Rex is sitting on top of the mix as is acceptable in this genre.

Hmmm, I think those guitars were clipping like mad on the way in, tons of crackle going on and they are sooooo loud compared to the drums.

I personally like metal, and will give props for effort, but it's very generic and does nothing to stand out from the thousands of other generic metal bands. The recording does not help but I can look past that, I can't look past the songwriting itself and gave it a 5.

Don't get me wrong, I love metal. I was resident teradactyl'ist for several Kansas City metal bands from 2003-2006.

No amount of loving metal will allow me to rate this above 1 star. I would be polite about it...but this particular presentation pretty much embodies everything I dislike about the predominant mindset among the genre followers in my home town.

Between the Buried and Me, Dillinger Escape Plan, The Bled and a KC band called The James Dean Trio (RIP) are all examples of how the _____core genre can be awesome.

If anyone's feeling like listening to some aggressive music right now, I highly recommend this formerly Kansas City based tidbit:

Oh and definitely this one:

A 1 for me would be for someone who can't piece anything together and can't play their instrument at all. A "5" to me is 50% which in school would be beyond failing. A "1" would be 10% which is very close to zero effort.

The guitar parts were played well for the most part, and the programming on the drums was done well when I could hear them. He put in the effort and spent the time, my reason for a 5.

Last but not least, I like my metal oldschool and brutal. I have seen a couple of the bands (The Bled, Buried and Me) you mentioned and honestly to me they just sound like a really polished versions of the crap I hear around town all the time. Nothing to really set them apart.

Not bashing your tastes, I'm just getting older and still look to the past for most of my metal (Sepultura, Kreator, old Deicide, Coroner etc...). Parkway drive is pretty fantastic though.

Hmmm, your method of rating is much more fair than mine, Cpt.

And granted, I didn't come up with very good examples of quality metal on the fly (with the exception of the local KC band, which is still my favorite ___core/metal band). The Bled had a cool EP called Pass The Flask and then got crappy. I've only listened to Silent Circus by Between the Buried and Me and loved that album (Mordecai is a must listen if you think you dislike BTBAM). Sepultura is definitely awesome. Gotta check out some of this 'old' metal you speak of...

Edit: On second listen Pass the Flask IS just a really polished version of the same crap floating around every town in America. Funny...I guess my tastes have changed since I was 14...go figure haha. Lala says pass the flask has been out since 2007...this is not true, much older than that

Edit after the edit: I really miss playing this kind of crap (like Pass the Flask), even as regurgitated as it is at this point. I remember jumping on top of people in a crowd in Independence, Missouri and literally punching a guy in the face during a chugga-chug breakdown and getting nothing but incredibly positive feedback afterwards. I still hang out with that guy. I got nailed in the head at one of our shows when our bassist jumped off his refrigerator cab and hit me in the head with his headstock causing instant gruesome bleeding. I finished that show, laid down for a while and then drove 30 miles across town to play another show. The wound had closed up by then but as soon as I started screaming it opened up and the stage was covered in blood, hahaha. People approached me afterward and asked how I got such a realistic stage effect...after all, who just starts bleeding profusely from the forehead at random?? I wore the blood soaked shorts from that show to high school for a week straight. What a strange adolescence I had...

@ Mack: But srsly...did you listen to those links I posted, the James Dean Trio (they're Lala links)? I'd be interested to hear your opinion being of the more classic school of metal. It's definitely under the blahblahblah-core genre but its like...good.

It's definitely chaotic, it kinda reminds me of Psyopus, but like Psyopus its hard for me to listen to em on CD but live they are always fun to watch.
