WavesGTR Help

Im using:

Behringer Xenyx 1832 FX
UCA 200
Reaper software

Untill now I'd been recording with amp mics to record guitars and basses, and while I'm happy enough with the sound I get when recording the bass lines, I'm not happy with the limits I face when recording with guitar amp micing. I'd like something more flexible, so that I can almost completely change the tone of the guitars after recording, and even add distortion after recording. I'd heard WavesGTR was good, before I buy it, I'd like to know would it be helpful, for what I want it to do?

My plan is, to DI the guitar into the desk, and record direct from that. Then with this, I'd like to use WavesGTR to fiddle around with the sound file, and add the effects I'm looking for. Is this possible?

Any help is appreciated.

I'm not a fan of the waves amp models but their stomps are killer, but ofcourse those r more effects than actual tone. The line 6 models obviously r still leaders in the industry but i also very much like IK Multimedia's stuff.

All of those brands will allow ur to DI ur guitar and then create a tone, so u cant go wrong there. Just gotta see which one models how u want

I think I'll do some research on some of the Line 6 stuff before buying anything then.

Thanks for your advice!

You could get a reverse DI and simply do re-amping. Being able to tweak your amp on the fly while the direct track records is quite awesome, sounds great and is even fun imo.
