I am new to the recording world and I wanted to get some feedback on what would be some good studio headphones. I am using a Line 6 Toneport UX1 and I'm on a budget so let me know what would be some good models, brands to check out etc.

Okay, opinions vary, but you might look into the Sennheiser HD280pros, the Sony MDR7506, Audio Technica M50 (I'm using the M40fs, which are not too bad, and they don't let much sound out) and I think the AKG 240s were supposed to be good. That's what I've got off the top of my head. Most those are in the $100 or less category. So it should be a good place to start. If you can hop down to a local music store and try out some of them out, then all the better.

If you're on a budget, AKG as a brand offer several good bang-for-your-buck headphones. Here are a couple from

I love Sennheiser as a brand, although I haven't used their lower priced cans. I have their HD280 Pro, which are excellent except a weak spot in the frequency response at around 100Hz or so. But they are so dynamic and accurate, they just wowed me right from the start.

Audio Technica has a few sub-$100 cans that get a lot of good reviews.

I agree with J-bot, see if you can actually audition the cans before purchasing because your preferences might be different from ours. But all in all, AKG, Audio Technica, Sony, Beyer, Sennheiser are all good phones that should satisfy any entry-level demands.

Long Story Short: Save your money the next time you’re thinking about heading out to a recording studio and start investing in yourself. Not only is a home studio in reach, it also allows artists to take control of their music (financially & creatively).
