Well if you can't get them to erase with a bulk erasure that isn't a huge deal. Recording directly over it won't hurt either.
I know some used to simply run the entire tape with the record button on but no level's up on the unit and that would be a slow way to erase the tape for it to be clean.
But remember one thing, the more you record and erase the more those little magnetic particles get smeared and degraded. Cassette tapes a pretty cheap these days so I would maybe invest in a few for better quality.
I still keep 20 or 30 in stock here for the just in case someone needs it on tape thing.
