Sonar 6, Vista and Samson C01U USB Condenser Mic.

Hello gang,

My apologies if this issue has been covered elsewhere, but I couldn't find it anywhere... soooo... I would be more then grateful if you guys could help me out!

I'm running an Acer Aspire 7535 notebook, Windows Vista,
Sonar 6 Producer Edition, and the Samson C01U USB
Condenser Microphone.

The issue I'm having is as follows...

At times the mic seems to be running fine, I see the wav
files forming as I record, but then when I click stop, the wav
file disappears. Other times it'll record fine, but then once I
go on to overdub a second track I get this message:

"Unable to open audio playback device. Device may not support the current projects audio format or may be in use."

I'm running the MME (32 bit) driver, since the other ones don't work at all...

I've already tried switching driver mode, and adjusting the Buffer size.

Any help would be soooo much appreciated!

Thanks in advance...

ick.....first i'd check to make sure it's writing what you record to your hard drive, so check your projects audio folder (using explorer, not sonar) just to see if it's saving the .wav files it's recording....

also does playback work ok for other applications (like mp3) i'd assume so but ya never know when troubleshootin'.

sonar does get a bit strange when using drivers other than WDM or ASIO.....infact if i remember correctly when i bought my vista system sonar didn't even recognize the stock drivers at all (neither did wavelab for that matter)...

man i wish i could help more...but a problem like this is pretty tough....i almost wanna say it's a driver issue with your stock soundcard.

If you unplug the USB mic do you get playback then?

If I'm not mistaken the drivers for that USB mic are just the generic windows drivers. They did not write dedicated drivers. Or did you get a driver installation disc with it?

Either way, I know this thing does not play nice with other devices and causes all kinds of problems when trying to do playback and record with it.

The disappearing tracks is odd though as I have not seen that one yet.
