I've just uploaded one of my latest tracks to my profile, the track is called afterlife.
this was recorded at home using some pretty basic equipment, if interested the list is on my profile. I think i did fairly good job, but i would really like some feedback on it.
Hope you enjoy
Thanks.

Sep 14, 2009 08:39 pm Ok, for the most part I think this is fantastic. Good song, very cool riffage going on. I like the slowdown and basswork/solo that goes along with it. Vox are good with great layering going on.
My only beef is that the dbl kick hides the guitar work at times. It really is well done but I think the kick should be simmered down a tad, it has more attack than the snare at times. It really is only at times though.
Great work, worth a download imo

Sep 14, 2009 09:11 pm awesome song great mix, i agree with Cap on the kicks though, are they sidechained?
sounds like the rest of the mix gets squashed everytime they get hit.
rest of it rocks though man, cool stuff.

Sep 14, 2009 09:42 pm Agreed, very well done indeed. I did like the vocal layering as well. The vocals as a whole were all well done for this genre indeed. You crossed a bit into another realm for a portion, and I liked that as well. The guitars also kicked some major arse and were well placed. My personal taste in this genre is a tiny bit more punch on the bass, but that is my personal taste when mixing.
I must agree as well on the Dbl it does take over a bit. But it is a very limited amount of spots that this happens. On second listen I don't think I noticed it as much either.
Loved the tune overall as well. The arrangement was very cool for this genre and it really kept me listening through 2 go rounds. Very well done.
Sep 15, 2009 12:07 am Thank you, Will do an emergancy remix lol, the thing has to go off to the production line in 3 days so I want it to be the best it can. no not side chained.
If you're refering to the bass during the break down needing more punch, it was actually recorded on a differnt bass to the rest of the song. it seemed to fit that part better. but it was recorded on a warwick and i think the high end on that doesn't sound that great. but i'll see what i can do, as i think your probably right, would be nice if it had a bit of a bite to it.
Thank you for your input guys =]

Sep 15, 2009 09:20 pm i'd buy the album/demo if possible.
Sep 16, 2009 08:58 am Thanks guys, will do, have gone back to the songs and mixed down the bass drum about 2-3db before it hits the limiter in the mix channel, and although it hasn't taken too much away from the punch i believe it allows things to breath a bit better, 5 songs down 6 more to go lol
BTW The band is called soul sanctuary, if you google soul sanctuary music it should be one of the first items that comes up on the list, there are links to buy the album there if interested, it's out on the 30th, and is available to be shipped world wide.
Thanks Again!
