If im recording keys straight outta the keyboard into my interface as audio, does that go in "mono" to a stereo track?
or "stereo in" to stereo track?
or just Mono both ways?

Aug 15, 2009 02:47 am it depends on wat output ur using from ur keyboard, it should have two seperate instrument outs usually labelled L and R, usually if using mono u will use the left out.
if u plug both in left and right into ur interface ofcourse u should set them up as a stereo track.

Aug 15, 2009 03:24 am cheers crux, i ended up going into my pre in stereo so it worked out ok.
i forgot i have the combined panner in Cubase and it only works on stereo tracks, so im glad i did it stereo. i can put the keys anywhere i want, position, and width in that position.

Aug 17, 2009 08:49 pm Ya, and most key sounds these days are using a stereo type sound anyway. Either by effect or by the nature of the programmed sound it will normally use a stereo track to capture it properly.

Aug 18, 2009 05:06 pm Exactly, it depends on the nature of the sound. If it is just a straight synth with no stereo effects you could go mono and save a little hard drive space. If it is keys like piano or strings or other sampled stuff, it probably has stereo built into it in which case you will want to go stereo.
