hello,
im using Mackie Onyx Satellite, and ever since i bought this sound car ive been having trouble with sound, it only plays on one speaker.
songs i play on my computer work fine, with both speakers.
however, when i connect the mic, without even working with a recording program, i get sound only from ONE speaker.
this goes on and of course when i record on cubase, i get the same problem.
moreover, when i insert songs into cubase projects, again, i get the same thing. it plays the playback only with one speaker. and when i play the same song on windows media player, it works fine.
does anybody know what the problem is?
thanx.

Aug 03, 2009 08:59 pm I'll start with the simplest. Have you installed the drivers, properly following their installation instructions to the letter?
Also, in Cubase do you have the output or input assigned to mono instead of stereo?
Lastly, are you absolutely certain the cables are all good cables to the speakers?
Aug 04, 2009 02:01 am hi, thanx for the reply.
the drivers are installed well, it is set to stereo on cubase and the cables are good.
you see, the speakers both work while playing songs on windows media player, it only happens on cubase, so the cables are fine.
any suggestions?

Aug 04, 2009 11:44 am My suggestion is to check your driver control panels monitoring section. All of my inputs (1-8) are panned L/R all the way down the board by default. I had to go through and pan them accordingly for what I record (kick centered, toms slightly panned, OH's are far L/R), those settings were retained after configured once. This only effects my monitoring as once a (mono) track is recorded it plays through both speakers.
Second, make sure you are not trying to record a stereo signal using just one input as that would create the issue in playback once tracked. Stereo tracks would require two inputs per track. If you are seeing a stereo waveform after recording with one side completely empty, that would be the issue. For vox, guitars, bass etc... you want to record mono.
The two together would create the issue in both monitoring and playback.
Just some thoughts... hope they help.
