audacity problem!

running a very simple setup of shure sm47 > behringer mixer >pc line in via tape cables and trying to record via audacity,

but, the sound is horrible sounding out of phase/tune. not sure why this is happening. pc has 4GB of RAM and loads of space.

not sure what input to use/output. i have the choice of

MME: soundmapper inoput
MME: IDT audio

windows direct sound: primary sound capture driver
windows direct sound: IDT audio

any help greatly apprciated, thanks! and great site!

Do you have a sample of the sound you are recording you upload to your profile for us to hear.

Using the built in sound card is not really going to give extremely high quality result's, but it can work. Either driver is going to be about equal. But stay away from the IDT driver as that is not the better driver.

Are you using any EQ or anything on the board? You should record without any EQ turned up on the board.
