A Guitar Center competition

I got this in an email from GC and figured 1 or 2 folks in here might find it appealing. You get to down load the songs and play your song of choice from the available list according to the rules.

For some reason, I read the thread title as "Guitar Gear Competition". I had thoughts like this going through my head:

My guitar can beat up your guitar, but I think my amp might lose a 1-on-1 with a half-stack. It is a 2x12 combo so it can kick any other combo's ***, but it'd lose a straight-out fight with most 4x12s. Except those damn Behringer 4x12 cabs. My combo could take one of those, no problem.

Anyways, I saw a full-page ad in Guitar World this month about this. It wasn't really clear about the actual contest, and that webpage is the same kind of thing. It's so busy, I can't tell what the hell they're talking about!

Maybe I should watch the video.

I really like your first take on reading it, I have a little Mesa Boogie DC-3, I would really like to put in your amp fighting match up.

But this thing may not be so bad. I'm actually considering it just to do something to force me to knock the rust off and get busy again.

Bluesdues, indeed you should. I've known about it for awhile now.

I'd be curious to see which track or tracks you would play to.

Noize I found that to be my problem, at 49 years old the tracks available seem to be ........well lets say thin for what you would call blues. And that kind of watered down my desire. But I'm going to take another listen. Perhaps u might have a suggestion, I................ I'm not giving up yet

I've been trying to back into the tracks section all day and their server just tanks out completely not letting me in.

I agree the tracks are pretty weak indeed though. Not putting Pete down, but I'm not so sure he is all that and a bag of chips as GC is making him sound like.

If I were hosting a greatest new blues guitarist competition I think I would put a bit more effort into making some kick arse track. And I'd have em up in stems as well to allow for some real creativity.

I'll keep trying and let you know which one I think sounds the best.
