New gear advice

Hello my friends!!

It's been a while since my last post but I've been too busy. Anyway I've been reading your podts and I'am happy that the community has been growing at a high speed.

Well, it seems that time has come to buy new gear and as allways I'am asking you for advice.
I'am planning to buy:
- ART tube MP OPL Mic Pre, to give my recordings some caracter (Vocals and DI Bass and guitars).
- A Bass, Yamaha BB404 or Fender Standard Precision (I need something good and not to expensive).
- Behringer UB2442FX-Pro Mixer. I like the direct outs feature cause I'am planning to record drums later so I'am going to get me a Multi I/O soundcard (probably the Delta 44 or 1010).

Ok, what do you guys think of the gear is it good or should I look for something else??

Thanks for your time and patience!!

The Behringer console is an excellent purchase. I don't know too much about basses and I can't say I've heard too much about the Mic.

But it looks like you've done your homework Sonico :)

Hey Sonico, glad your back.

The ART unit is a good unit for the price, and they are built pretty soundly. As for the Bass, that is a toss up. It really depends on what sound you are looking for. Both of those basses are pretty standard type basses, and will work well for you.

Now the Behringer is a great choice, it will give you many otpions and you shouldnt out grow it for a while. And the M-Audio interfaces are in my book, the best. I know many of us here use their stuff, and I have been using their gear for years. It is very well built and they are by far the best in the bussiness as far as keeping their drivers data base up to date.

If you want a great quality bass look for a Cort Action Bass. Great bass for under $200.

Great Bass and Cort...there are two things you don't hear in the same sentence very often...

Thanks a lot guys!!

As always you've been very helpfull.
Hey jues, I took a listen to your stuff and man it's amazing. Besides the songs themselves, the quality of the recording is excellent. I've read your articles too. It's nice to be back.

What mixer are you guys recording drumkits using?? Is it posible to use an insert point as a direct out?? How do you use the subgroups??
Sorry, too many questions.

Ok, I just read the tutorial about mixer's busses and it answered my question about subgroups.

Thanks Sonico :) I have a new song that I did for college that I will be posting up on here soon - not to mention EP02 which is coming along slowly.

Regarding mixers - anything that will allow you to route 4-10 (depending on the size of the kit and the number of mics useD) signals to a recording interface.

My MX3282a does the job perfectly.
