Just got a copy of Pro Tools 8, the MAudio version,
and I'm having a problem...after several records and
playbacks the output audio starts making a blown speaker
sound with lots of flutter...the workaround is to exit
Protools completely and it goes away for a while, but
comes back especially when there are a lot of instruments.
I've tried adjusting the ProTools playback engine and hardware
and M-Audio settings to no avail. Only weird thing I've
noticed is that the LATENCY tab on the M-Audio control Panel
(accessible as a SystemTray icon) is greyed out and set at
128, so I'm wondering how to enable it.
The stats are: Protools 8, the machine is a Dell Dimension
9100 with XP SP2, physical mem 1,536 MB, virtual mem 2GB.
The M-Audio unit is firmware 1.0.3, audio 5.10.00.5123,
panel 1.0.1.12.
So I am interested in making the flutter go away and
finding out why the latency tab is greyed out and if
it matters.
Thanks for reading,
Kevin
