how would i set it up with the behringer mx2442a mixer? it is a stereo compressor, so how would i use the aux sends and returns for it? and how would i set it for different things?

i would want to compress vocals and acoustic guitar. could i do both at the same time or would i have to get two of them?

On my Mackie, I use the inserts for my compressor. I don't think using an aux, send and return would work properly because you would be mixing the wet signal with the dry. You need to have only the wet signal. You can either use an insert for each of two channels or if you want to compress a group you can use the inserts on the subgroups.

Read 5.2 on page 11 of your manuel and it will explain it better than I can here.
