Listening While Recording with Audacity

Hello everyone. I am just getting started with recording on the laptop. I currently have audacity installed and am using that for the time being.

My question is how do I listen to my recordings through the headset as I am recording
I know this can be done using other recording software but havent figured it out yet on Audacity

I have ordered a M-Audio USB Sound Card interface and am anxiously awaiting for it to arrive . Until it does though I am using the headphone and mic jacks on laptop .

Think I may have found the answer. Software playthrough in the preferences needs to be checked, right ?

P.S. I am using a Dell Inspiron 1521 with Ubuntu 8.10.

Yep, you simply have to route it to whichever output is for your headphone out. If that is the stock sound card then that is were you will route it.
