Ever wanted to STICK it to Digidesign?

Here's your chance. I found an information leak on store.digidesign.com today. They are inadvertantly leaking this poor guys information all over the net.

Go to store.digidesign.com and click on "my account". An account will show up and you will be able to see the persons name, email address and purchase history. When you click on the purchase history by product it gives you license information, DOWNLOAD LINKS, and detailed user information.

Depending on your region, you may get different users whose account info has leaked. When I access "my account" from my office at work, I get the same guy as when I'm remotely logged into my house 30 miles away. But when I log in to my Dad's computer in Houston Texas, I get some other guys information.

So...go to store.digidesign.com click on "My account" and use the email Digidesign gives you to inform the user that their account info leaked. If I'm going to pay these stupidly inflated prices Digi better keep my #$*% info private!!!

I took screen shots to prove to the user that I wasn't a "spammer". You might try the same tactic.

BTW- Maui is the best place on Earth. Go there.

Holy crap, this is true, but when going to the site, you need to click on your country, THEN you see the info.

WOW, flawed code release me thinks.

The first time I did so, it did show me some poor guys account.

When I tried it again, to alert the guy that Digi had done so, it did not display any account. It just went to the log in page. And for some reason, dos not recognize my account password or email. Strange.

One of the new guys that we hired where I work, use to work for a store that sold Digi pieces. According to him, when Digi makes any mistake, They try to make up for it by handing out software.

Oh! We showed your account? Sorry, here have the full Focusright bundle. And the Joe Meek bundle as well. How's that?

Got to love it!

Yeah. It's been fixed. As of about 10:00 pm central or so.

Sanchez was the guy I got most of the time too. Maybe Digi will hand him buckets of software...I hope he doesn't just ignore the message. I want Digi to suffer for their horrible price gouging.

I talked to a customer service rep today after an hour on hold. When I politely let him know how long I had been waiting he says "...no, Our average hold time is 28 minutes." As if I had some reason to lie to him. What's sad is that I know to watch my hold time in order to complain appropriately at the end of each call.

Good. I hope they email me back and say, "Oh...good catch...here's DV Toolkit 2".

Digitranslator could be helpful while working on this upcoming HRC collaboration project. ;)

Edit: Digi Emailed me back saying that Dave has been in contact with them and he has been compensated. They haven't shelled out anything for my assertion though(go figure)...

I just emailed them back asking for compensation for assisting their web team close any potential information leaks. I very specifically requested DV Toolkit 2 and a Mercedes Benz (any model and color will be sufficient). Prepare to get jealous when I cruise around in my new ride. Would it be too much to ask for a vanity plate reading "DigiSux"?

Well I didn't get DV Toolkit 2 or a Mercedes Benz. But the Vice President of customer service called me and thanked me for helping their developers track down the issue and apologized for phone support sucking so badly. Turns out someone forgot to clear the temporary cache after shutting down the store.digidesign.com web server for maintenance. I also got PT 8 for free along with Melodyne Essential and some DJ software I'll probably never use. Torq and a limited software drum machine of some kind...

Not quite what I was hoping for software wise...I wanted that Mercedes Benz too, so maybe there's a Toyota Corolla in the mail. hah

What? You didn't get a Mercedes? Oh those bastards!

That's it! I'm never going to buy for them again!

Not that I ever bought from them before. But, I'm not going to start either.

That'll teach them!

No Mercedes, who do they think they are!?!

I know I'm late. But that's not the first time Digi has had leak issues.

Back in the day of ISA slots I bought a brand new Sample Cell II PC sampler card. First they lost my reg info and tried to tell me I had no support as I didn't own the card. AT $3000 I was a bit more then pissed off. I had the store I bought it at contact Digi and verify. Digi came back and gave them the name of the guy who supposedly owned the card and it wasn't me. Needles to say, after 6 weeks of not be able to use the card they finally figured out they had screwed up.

Al I got was the current driver set up and a lousy disc of samples. Bottom of the barrel samples as well.

So now I've held a grudge from that day forward. You pay huge money for their stuff and get little or now support without it casting 2 arms and 4 legs.
