alright

i have a behringer 1204 mixing board w/ usb interface pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com...204?sku=631269

and a MXL 992 Condenser Mic.
pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com...one?sku=273162

so, ive set up everything. using the usb interface with rca cables and everything else.
i have headphones plugged into my mixing board and im getting sound into them from the computer so the usb interface is working fine. Also, my mic is working fine i can say something and hear it clear as day in my headphones.

BUT, my computer isnt getting any voice when i try to record.
i tried looking in volume options and nothing is muted.
theres no microphone detected.

i just switched over from using a logitech usb mic and that worked fine.

but my computer isnt recognizing this new one

ANY suggestions?

Edit; I Re-installed the hardware. and it DOES recognize the microphone. but no voice...

does it need a pre-amp even though its through the mixing board?

im a noob at recording...im just starting to use actual equipment not a logitech talk headset and adobe audition.

BTW, i have a cheap e-machine computer. nothing special.

any help ????????

Sounds like you just need to tweak the Windows "recording" device to point to your behringer. If I'm reading this correctly.... you have both the mic and the headphones plugged into the mixer... and the mixer attached to your PC via USB.

What are you using to record? Windows native voice recorder or something like Sonar? In either situation, you'll have to route your recording options in windows control panel to point to drivers that came with the mixer software.

Windows -> Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio -> Audio tab.

im using adobe audition to record, well trying to.

and yeah everything is plugged into my mixer. and in my audio tab the recording device is USB Audio Codec. so it should be right.

right ??

edit-
i installed the drivers. and everything seems to work better like the mixer gets better sound and ****. but in audition i set the recording to the behringer. and still, nothing. i can hear myself in the headphones tho.

???

What version of audition just curious? Do you have phantom power on.

In Audition you need to use hardware setup to make sure it's using the USB ASIO driver and then also assign the track input.

What shows up for inputs when arming a track?

Adobe audition 3

and yes, phantom power is on

and ive tried that ASIO thing before...but not after i installed the behringer drivers. so il try that. and the inputs are all set to the behringer mixer. so it should be fine. ill try that ASIO thing. if that doesnt work i dont know what else.... ????

in audition.. in the hardware set-up. i set the audio driver to behringer. and setup the ASIO driver to work in background or whatever. then when i try to record it says the currently selected driver isnt available ....??
what noww ?

The only time I get "not available" is when 1) the unit is not on 2) the driver is corrupt 3) when I left my interface on for several days and it crashed (reboot was solution). You may want to try unchecking "release in background" as Audition will not let other apps take control of the device without halting all operations.

Your process is correct so far, but it sounds like the USB ASIO is not working. Audition is pretty friendly with just about every device I have plugged into it. I would just try uninstall/reinstall of the drivers first off.

Ok, if audition now recognizes the interface you must next tell the track what signal to record, what are you selecting as the input?
