EQ for live sound

I also asked this question in the recording board, I have been reading some of the posts on the board and you guys seem to really know what you are talking about,so please be patient with me because I really don't know much. I have a Tascam US1641 interface and I would like to find a really good EQ, at a low price that, I can connect to it for recording and also be able to use for live shows. The type of music is mostly bluegrass, Christian, and country. My microphones are an Audio-Technica AT4040, AT2020, AT2021,ATR30, a Shure 12a, 33-984D(SM58 clone), a Sennheiser E824s, and a Peavey PVi 100, I have a Yamaha EMX 312sc powered mixer and a set of Nady Audio PS112 speakers. Also is it easier to EQ the live sound after the mixer to the speakers.

Ok, before anyone else says it. Please don't double post the same question.

When members login the see the latest posts from all sections so there is no need to post in multiple sections fearing one will not be seen.

Just an FYI.

edit: I replied in the other post.

well, first off, what live sound situations would you be getting into that you would need your own EQ, secondly, i find i do not even use a EQ in a studio setting, i work off of a board while recording that doesn't even have EQ strips and is very professional. so its hard to suggest anything to use unless i know what situations you need it for in live sound situations

Yamaha EMX 312sc already has 7 band EQ for mains & monitors--Is there a reason you want to further EQ ie; excessive feed back?

Since you have a powered board, if you put an eq "after the mixer to the speakers" you will litterally cook the eq.

good to know mono, that something i was wondering myself,

wondering if the eq will carry power, but logic in my mind dictated stuff getting blowed up!

so glad i knwo before i ended up trying it myself lol...

theoretically, if you know how to make cables, you could rig an insert cable so you can extensively eq a channel, but at that point, i would just imply recommend a normal insert cable with a parametric EQ. seems like it will be much more suited for you

Well, I looked up your self powered amp on Yamaha's web site.

Sorry to say that there is not place to insert an EQ anywhere in you entire system.

And as Monmixr stated, if you put an EQ in line with the speaker outputs, the result will be one well done EQ. Ephesus on the extra crispy side.

Your mixer has an 8 band EQ with it. I know it's not the best. But that is what you are stuck with.
