Question about filling the "audio spectrum"

Hi there everyone...I see the term "filling up the audio spectrum" quite a bit, and I was wondering what exactly this means?? And I've also heard that you can't have two different instruments using the same frequencies or they'll clash. How is this possible?? These may be stupid questions to some of you, but after all I'm a ******* newbie to this stuff. :-)

It doesn't mean that instruments CAN'T share frequency ranges, it just means doing it with care and keeping the primary freq open. If you have a wailing guitar, dumb down the highs a little on the rest of the stuff, to bring the kick out move the other instruments out of the way with the EQ...just simple stuff like that.
