I have have CPU and ram limitations which I have been dealing with until I save up some money for a new computer
I use Cubase LE4
when i run more that a few plugins it gets really congested and I cant play back and mix no matter what I do with the buffer setting
an associate of mine at the radio station I work at said that I can print my plugins to the track
how can I do that on Cubase LE4 with out re-recording to another bus

May 01, 2009 05:55 am mmm, from my experience wid Cubase i havent heard the term print to track but there are a couple things you can do.
are you using "inserted effects"?
or do you set up an FX channel and route it that way?
you really wanna set it up via means of the FX track and then route it.
inserted effects, even on compys with alot of ram, dont last long this way before bithin and whining.
so you "add track" and choose FX track which should come up as pink track.
on that track, add your effect in the insert rack,( like you would normally do) and then go back to the track you want it on.
using the "send" (off to the left side) bring in as much as you need.
ya need to activate it first by turning it on.
if ya already doin all this then ok.
in Cubase there is a function called "freeze". im pretty sure you can use that to conserve cpu power. check that out in "help"

May 01, 2009 11:31 am Freezing is probably what they were referring to with the "print to track" thing. It basically mixes down that track with the effects applied into a new .wav file and simply references that file on playback instead of processing the plugins. It does nothing to the original file.

May 03, 2009 12:09 am i think when they say print to track they actually mean bouncing, which is kind of like freezing in concept
if u just export>mixdown single tracks and import them back in, they will have their effects but will just be a single wav file that doesnt take up CPU, this ofcourse is disadvantaged to freezing as u cant go back and adjust effects if u really need to.
