Whoa, I just bought the 30th anniversary re-release of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. Totally remastered in 5.1 surround.
Me and my 1 1/2 year old put it in, layed down in the middle of the family room right between all the surround speakers, and zoned out...WOW, it adds a whole new life to an already classic recording.
Highly recommended.

Mar 31, 2003 10:56 am That piece stopped me dead in my tracks the first time I heard it. It probably launched my interest in pro audio gear. 1973 in Kalsrua Germany. Walked into this house where this guy had a real to real system playing through Bose 901's. Dark side was on. I had never heard equipment like that. Poor boy from northern Michigan had no idea it existed. I don't think I moved for an hour after it was over. The people must have thought I was mute. They had probably been trying to talk to me.

Mar 31, 2003 06:17 pm Yup, I gotta admit. It came along at a real turning point in my life. I was really into Pink Floyd, Tangerine Dream, Nektar and several others at that time. I think DSOTM pushed me right over the edge as far as creativity goes. It made me realize I could play the way I wanted and that I didnt have to be chained to the top 40 thing. Although at that time it was really hard to find people who could actually take the time to learn the music. But then again, all those hours in the studios alone trying to emulate what they were doing made me what I am today. What exactly that is I dont know.
And Walt, I love the Bose 901 thing. At that time I think I had a set of the 5' x 2' Magnaplanes. They were the first set of linear speakers out. The stereo image they gave was unbelievable. The bass that came off of them would make the hair on your arms wave as it went my. That a custom built 600 watt amp from VanAlstien, and I was the koolest kid on the block.
