Just wondering if anyone had any input on how latency and buffer size affects the overall sound of a mix.

Mar 04, 2009 12:07 pm they only affect the sound when they fail to meet the needs of the system.
for example the sound will drop out if the buffers are too small in an attempt to get faster latency

Mar 04, 2009 12:10 pm Yeah, they don't affect the sound at all in the end. During mixing you want your buffers higher to process all the FX and when tracking you want it low to decrease latency (too low and your system struggles to keep up resulting in clicks\pops), that is all they are for really. Shoot, you could even record with high latency and then scoot files afterwards if that was the only option.
