I have just purchased Pro Tools 8 w/ Mbox 2 Pro and a IMAC 2.4 Ghz, 4GB Ram. I have the MV 8000 and a EMU Proteus keyboard. I am trying to set up to use the MV 8000 as the main sequencer and track beats into pro tools and mix them. I also put Reason 3 adapted on the imac and would like to make beats in reason while using the emu as a controller. Please advise with the basic setup... Also I keep getting error 6085 from PT8..saying The audio device buffer underflowed. I tried all the suggestions that was given but no luck...

Thanks in Advance...

Man, I'm sorry to say but I don't know any other PT users on this site.

Not being a Mac guy or a Digidesign guy I can't really help to deeply with the underflow problem. If you have tried all the solution's given by their tech support then it could be more serious.

That is usually caused by a simple buffer setting in the interface options section or PT or the 002 control panel.

Can you get it to function at all?

As far as hooking it up. You will want the emu hooked up simply via the midi out to the digi midi in. You can loop it through the MV8000 midi in and out the thru if you want to control that will the keyboard as well.

Then its simply a matter of going into the preferences of PT 8 and setting up the midi port and then arming that port in the track when you need it.

I tune down down...

A thing to look at is what you CPU usage is on you MAC.

I use PT's now... (EEK!) But, on a PC so, I'm not sure how to look at your usage. But, you should use Reason Rewired into ProTools. Look it up.

Also, don't have a ton of other things running in the background while ProTools is up. 8 got a little stingy in resources from what I understand. :(
