What about this trade for a Fender Deluxer Reverb (RI)

I looking for a few opinions on the Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue. I'm considering trading my Fender Twin II for one. I realize I'll be giving up that paint peeling power in the Twin II, but I'm not really using it at all, since I'm not actively playing out now. I've just never used the Deluxe Reverb before and looking for a little input.

Over where I work, we carry just as many Deluxe's as Twins. And I find very little difference between the two. To me, although I am just a repair tech on them, they sound very similar.

The Twin II is a 105 watts, which I have to say is the loudest, cleanest wattage I think I've heard. I'm guessing I will be able to get a bit more distortion out of the Deluxe-( I think it's about 22 watts or so). I'll get a short time to check it out first, but all input is welcome thanks. By the way do you see one more than the other for repair?

Other then the normal tube change. The only other thing that I see with them is users putting a shielded cable on the foot switch. Don't do that. Use the unshielded cable.

Bluesdues, I myself prefer the Deluxe. It seems to me on the 3 Twin II's I have played through that it took a whole lot of push to get the Twin II to get the dirt that came so easily from the Deluxe. Its clean sound is very good as well. They are essentially the same amp other then the wattage and tube set up.

I owned many high wattage amps and at the time they seemed the way to go. I miss my Soldano Hot Rod the most of the big amps. But to tell the truth now having been playing through the modded Epi Valve Jr. for the last couple of months I have a much better appreciation for those little class A single ended amps. At 5 watts running through a single 12" Eminence Vintage I can't tell you how happy I am to have jumped into the lower wattage clan. You can rest assured that the little thing gets extremely loud. But it can do a nice clean tone as well as with the mod's it can grind it up and spit it out.

So in the end I like the Deluxe for that fact. It can break up much easier and quicker then the high wattage of the Twin II.

Just my 75 cents worth.

I wouldn't hesitate, if the DR was in good shape. If you don't need the high headroom, then low-wattage (relatively) is the way to go, like noize said.

Easier to carry too =).

Well I did the trade, I had a twin II with 2 EV speakers in it, and I got a blond Deluxe Reverb (RI) with a Weber California 12" speaker installed. So far I think I like it. I haven't had a chance to really drive it hard yet, but what little I have done sounds good. And I don't think I'll need the wheels on this one :-)
