I've been at a "shootout" or two... One I can recall was a (16-channel?) Neve summing unit utilizing 8 stereo stems (with an Apogee conversion unit if I recall). Pretty much everyone guessed which and preferred the analog mixes for the most part (although there were a few here and there that varied).

Another was with a Crane Song Spider - 8 channels, 4 stereo stems, 100% correct on A/B, 100% preference of the analog mixes. Of course, the conversion was provided by 4 Crane Song HEDD's...

Personal preference? Analog summing. I certainly love analog mixing, but the trade-off of simplicity and dead-perfect recall of digital is hard to pass up. But with the right conversion and a good summing mixer, it's hard to beat - and still ridiculously simple to implement (there's rarely a reason to deviate from unity, so recall isn't an issue).

Are you actually summing in the Tac or are you running the stereo out of your sound card (?) to the Tac, then to the strips (can't figure out what those are actually doing there) then the G-comp, then the Rosetta?

Only you know if the chain is right. But it seems a little odd.

Why not sound card to comp to Rosetta and keep all that other stuff out of the chain?

And what's the sound card - Are you actually summing using the mixer?

First post!

Here are a couple links you can hear and judge for yourself. These analog summers are not cheap, so invest wisely!

I'm not sure how to post hyperlinks...

MOTU made a 1010??????

My head spins round and round, round and round.

Deron, welcome to HRC. We aren't really sure what he is doing. He has a spendy little console we are trying to figure out
what exactly he is doing with his chain and it.

Slowing down here a bit. Lots of little clients with little projects that actually take up more time.

Between that and being here at HRC that is about the extent of it.
