Problem with Tascam US-144 and Fruity Loops

I recently bought a US-144, hoping I could record guitar and vocals over the beats I make. However, it seems I can only either record, or listen. I tried setting my output to ASIO DirectX Full Duplex, but it said;

"The needed sample rate (44100Hz) couldn't be set or isn't supported by the ASIO driver. Please try another sample rate"

If I set it to US-122L/US-144 I can record, but can't hear any playback, the same if I set the output to ASIO4ALL v2 it's the same problem.

Basically I'm trying to record while I'm listening to what I've already done. Please help, I'm a bit of a noob at this.

You don't want to run ASIO4ALL when Tascam makes a perfectly good ASIO driver for the unit.

www.tascam.com/products/us-144;9,15,70,19.html

IF you go to the link posted above you will find current driver downloads as well as the latest firmware revision's.

I highly suggest updating them and then try again. It sounds like you simply do not have the correct driver's enabled in FL.

I'm not sure what you mean. I go to the website and download the thing for a driver but then I don't see anything about asio drivers? What exactly should I be looking for?

It won't describe the ASIO driver in the software package detail.

but you need to get version 1.12 of the drivers and version 1.12 of the firmware update as well and install them both.

Install the driver first, then the firmware update.

Then you need to go into the preferences for the audio and select the ASIO driver there.
