I am planning on buying a POD X3 Live... I was wondering if the mic input has phantom power??? (I am assuming that I need phantom power for my condenser mic)... I went to their site and looked at the manual but there is no detail.

Jan 23, 2009 07:48 pm I don't believe that it has phantom power. The X3 Pro rackmount does however. I think the idea of the live unit is to run a dynamic like a 58 for live performance. The X3 Pro is more for studio applications and therefore would be used with condensers.

Jan 24, 2009 01:25 pm Do I have to buy a mic preamp with phantom power, and connect it in front of the POD x3 live in order to get a condenser mic to work when recording vocals at home?

Jan 24, 2009 09:13 pm Yes, or you can build one from a kit. A bit cheaper and not to hard to do.
