mixing down question

i wanted to know, if you send your outputs from your soundcard to a mixing desk, to mix, can you then send the stereo mix back into the sound card via s/pdif, and record the mix at the same time as playing it?
Does it just come down to how fast the computer is?

Yep, you should have no problems there.

Your G4 is more than powerfull enough for the task at hand (as long as you aren't using a million different plugins). Simply create a new track, set the inputs to the digital-in's on your soundcard and then hit play.
