I have a PC at home that doesn't have a firewire card ( the PC isn't that old about 2 years or so) , I wanted to put one in so i can hook up my profire. I know a bit about set up and such but my computer know how lacks a bit. I trying to buy the right card to put into my PC and the stores on guam are lancknig so i have to order it and don't want to worry about it not fitting. I have two M-audio PCI cards hooked up but how do i know if i have PCI express? I'm asking because Musicians friend has two cards and i'm getting ready to do a larg order so i thought i might as well order all at once from the same place. I'm not sure if newegg or some of the lager computer stores ship here.

The best thing to do would be to look up a diagram of your motherboard on the internet to locate the PCI E slot. Usually it is a bit shorter than a regular PCI slot and located further back from the rest of the PCI slots.

PCI 1x is very short, under an inch. PCI 16x is longer than PCI, and further back from the fastening part, like BH said.

Here is what you are looking at with a conventional PCI slot at the bottom,

How lame, Wikipidia wont let you leach.

Bottom slot is standard PCI, next up is PCIe 16x. You can see the standard PCI slot is set back a tiny bit further then the PCIe type slots.
