Balanced Guitar Outs and such..?

I'd like to turn my Guitars output into a TRS output. But, I know in order for that to work, I need to make my amp and the few pedals I have TRS also. Does anyone have a CLUE on how to do this? I've looked a few places but I don't really grasp the idea of it yet.

Sorry to say, that this is not really possible. You can not balance a pick up.

An inductor is an unbalanced device. This is why all guitar pedals and guitar amp inputs are unbalanced.

Some guitars that use a TRS connection, are because they are stereo. They have a regular pick-up and some sort of piezo pick-up or mic as well. They have to go to another preamp to blend the two, before going to the amp.

Yep, no such thing doing there.

All stomp boxes and amps are not wired for balanced, and would really not benifit from it at all either.

If it is noise in the signal then a gate is the best way to take care of it.

Hmm... Well, that sucks. I'd love to take advantage of a gate but the thing is I never use more than one channel on my amp so in order to get a clean tone, I have to roll my gain(volume) back and then the signal isn't strong enough to move the gate. And since my dirty tone is such high gain, it doesn't help. Haha.

I have never heard of a gate note helping. You simply have to set the threshold higher or lower depending on the material you want blocked. I have had some of the noisiest amps used here and never seen a gate that didn't work on any of them.

What kind have you tried? I'm talking a hardware unit here, though software would work.

Well, I have one built into my Johnson amp. But, I've tried the Rocktron Hush pedal and it killed my lower volume stuff. My amps are really really noisy cause of all the gain I use even when nothing is plugged into them. So, when I get a gate set enough to cut that out, I end up cutting out my low volume guitar work.

Sounds like you might need to try a band limiting gate then. It would allow you to tailor the exact spot to cut. Which means you can target the noise itself rather then the guitar parts.

But I gotta say, I've used Rocktron and others and not had any problems cutting low volume stuff on noisy amps.

But each set up is different.

Right on. It was a few years ago when I didn't know much. So, maybe I can get one to tailor to what I need now. Haha.
