i did post this earlier but i think i put it in the wrong forum so i'll do it again.

im using reason 4 both on its own and as a rewire to cubase sx3 but i am getting major latency.

im using a midi controller keyboard with usb 2.0 connection.

any ideas?

have you changed the latency setting?

if you are monitoring thru SX it will have latency if you havent changed the settings, you will need it pretty low, it depends if your computer can handle it or not.

if it doesnt bother you too much i wouldnt even bother playing it thru SX, just use direct mon.

If this isnt it, then i think there is some kinda setting to do with midi that could also be the reason. im not real clued up with it though.
if you do a search on it here, you might find a thread that can answer your question.

ok, well, in Cubase look along the top tool bar and find "devices" go into that and choose "device setup"

have a geeze around there and find your latency set up. i cant remember how it is on windows but if your are using a mac,(should be similar anyway)click on your audio output. could be multimedia or asio or something orather there.

or you might see something thats has latency on it.

when you find this, make it lower and click apply. muck around with it until the latency is correct for what you want. if you go too low, the computer will crack a sad, and you will get clicks and pops in the recorded audio.
when this happens go back in and raise the latency again a bit till it stops.

okay i have just found it, i cannot physically adjust the latency however i found that i had a total of 4 ASIO drivers on my pc, one of these has reduced the output latency figure from 110.00ms to 13.46ms so i'll try now and see if there is any change

oh man this is annoying, okay so the one that is the lowest latency, does not give out any sound, because it will only me put the sound through me Realtek HD audio card, but my speakers are connected to me Creative SFX card!.. so the next one up on the list is giving me a miniscule amount of latency but it uses very weird settings and im not sure if this will create problems

so what is your interface? is that what reason is?

whatever your interface is, it "is" your soundcard, to my knowledge you shouldnt be using your computer soundcard if you have an interface, this is possibly why you are having problems.

do you have the manual and set up directions for your interface? find out what driver you should be using.
