Cool Edit pro issue with recording, help please!

Hi everyone

I'm using Cool Edit pro and previously had a Behrigner hooked up. Now I'm using a much neater USB mic..BUT when I try to drag MP3 files in CoolEdit pro, it just goes in as one big block of sound, as in a horrible buzzing noise. It also wont let me save files as MP3's ( like it used to), the option is just not there.
Can anyone shed any light please?.

Welcome.

Sounds like your MP3 codecs just flew the coop. Have you tried the ol' uninstall / reinstall of Cool Edit?

Hello Herb

Thanks for getting back to me. Does not want to play ball when I try to de and re install. For some bizarre reason when I try to re-install it tells me I only have a 60 evaluation copy which is not the case as I've had it for 3 years!. Anyway, I was wondering if I could re-install the MP3 codec from somewhere else?

Ahh, that makes sense. As I recall, CEP won't give you the MP3 codecs unless you have the registered version. Do you have the file called CEP2REG.EXE and your registration key?
