Ska Idea fleshing out... I think.

I added a slower version of the riff to the beginning and laid down an "idea" for vocals styling. I plan on having a female vocalist in the end version which I think may add a sexy\seductive feel to the beginning.

Btw, Loopology samples aint so bad for just sketching out song ideas. Very limited in looping terms I am sure, but works for me.

Anyway, am I headed in the right direction ya think? Opinions welcome.

Very, very nice already Cpt! Yep, a female voice will work wonders on the "sexiness", I'm sure. I also like the tempo change, it gives the song a good drive. You are heading in the right direction imho.

Very kool indeed. I liked it as well and agree completely on the female singing adding a bit of something extra.

And yes the tempo change was very cool as well. I liked the guitar tones you used as well, they give it that kind of punky ska feel.

Only thing I think might help the drums is a snare more suited to that genre. I'll take a look later in the week for a sample of what I am talking about. Unless you know what I am talking about, then never mind. :-) Kind of like early Rancid if you ever listened to any of their stuff. I'm sure you have though.

Anyway, rockin tune. Ray J wants to listen to it when we get home from scouts as well. He only heard a bit of the last few seconds and was intrigued.

On my loops, I have been using pre-built drum loops so the hits are not seperated.

But... I am just using these things like legos so I can easily convey my ideas to the bandmates. Sometimes when I play something they just don't understand what I am getting at, I also have a hard time communicating certain things too. Soooooo, I just record the whole damn thing and let them listen, it saves everyone some time and me some frustration.

So this is basically the blue print and all instruments will be re-re-re-recorded, also the drums will be a real kit on the end version.

I am just trying to get this thing fleshed out so the singer girl can start figuring out what she would like to do.

With that in mind....

Should I make the slow intro part one verse\chorus longer? It may be fading out too quickly, but I'm not sure.

I think on the upbeat part I am going to solo for 4 during the upstroke, let her sing for 4 and then go into the more punky chorus. Currently I solo through 4 and it jumps to the chorus.

Usually I just write a song and then let ya'll listen. With the slew of talent on these boards I figured I'd use yall's input during the writing process and see what happens. Thanks for listening guys.

Making the intro part one verse longer won't harm the song at all, I think. It will help laying down an even nicer basis before you really get things going. Building on anticipation will keep listeners sharp. :-)

Agreed, the longer front end will build up a bit more antici..............

pation!

I think that would work out well and sound idea, get a bit more bang when the punky part does come in.

I got it, but I was waiting for the Cpt to take the honors. After all he's a Cpt... ;-)
