Sep 17, 2008 08:18 pm Some know my age, but lets just say. Playing live I covered bands like The Hollies, Spencer Davis, The Troggs, and many others.
During the days they were top ten hits on the radio.
And you could go buy the 45 single of the music you wanted for around a quarter or so.
Sep 17, 2008 08:23 pm I actually own every Monkees album. And I have the DVD box sets of thier TV shows :) And my kids love them !!!!

Sep 17, 2008 10:27 pm I don't care what anyone says. The Monkeys rocked.
Mike Nesmith wrote some killer music after the monkeys as well.

Sounds awfully familiar, that's all I will say... ;-)
Have to agree on the Monkees and especially Nesmith. He paid his musical dues. Yep, I'm a believer.

Sep 18, 2008 09:47 pm Nice Nightcap.
Although I have had my age disclosed around here a few times by the likes of dB and a couple others who know.
But age means nothing really to me as far as music goes. I'm just as comfortable cruising with Slipknot or Rahmstein as I am with the Beachboys or the Beatles. Lately though Flobots has not left the player in the car.
I gotta confess though, I have Peter Pan Syndrome. I never wanna grow up.

Those young boys can be evil, I know... LOL
Age doesn't mean anything to me either. I like young people and I like old(er) people. The same goes for music. The only difference is that I do appreciate certain singers and styles now that I didn't when I was young. Just wasn't ready for them yet.
"Peter Pan Syndrome", that's a funny one!

Sep 18, 2008 11:54 pm Ya, I don't think my use of the term fits the medical profession's use of the term though. I think that description is meaning immature. Although I can be, I simply thrive being around my kids and there friends. As well as younger bands. Not to say I don't get the same thrill hanging with some of my old cronies, but there is nothing like the thrill of hearing a new young band that has potential. Or when they find out someone my age actually likes and respects their music.

Sep 19, 2008 12:18 am Well maturity is very much culturally defined, so I don't worry about it much. Being a product of the 60s I don't like conventions anyway. :-)
You're absolutely right; every era has its own good (and bad) music. And I can't stand folks who reject everything because things were better when they were young.

Someone should tell that to my wife.
Sep 19, 2008 09:14 pm My son likes Rahmstein alot. They are sort of Viking metal, correct. My son is actually leaving Sunday for the Navy. So Im gonna try and record some stuff with him. He signed up for 5 years. Kind of sad, him leaving. But I know he will do great. Two kids all grown up (well out of the house) and two left. :) Im almost free !!!!!

Sep 19, 2008 09:28 pm Ya, I guess you could call it that. Although it is very German themed for the most part.
Wish him luck from here. Tuna is now at AIT at Ft. Bliss in TX and loved basic but now is really getting into his MOS training.
For me its one left out of 4 now. Although I miss Tuna probably more as we did pretty much everything together. Ray is a bit more distant but trying hard to fill Tuna's shoes in that respect.
