I have a Motu 24 I/O with a pcie 424 card I have been using it for about a year and a half now and love it... when its installed and working..... my trouble is, if for any reason, like a hard drive failure i have to reinstall my 424 card I usually spend many hours or even days 1. installing the software 2. shuting the computer off 3. installing the 424 card 4. Turning the computer on and then seeing over and over again "audiowire driver not found (18)" then miracuously on the 7th,27th or the 5th install "depending on the mood of my computer" it works. Some of the things I have tried are going into the registry and setting machine system current control set enum pci to full control.and I've tried deleting the software and cleaning all instances of motu and mark of the unicorn out of the registry and reinstalling the software all to no avail. On every post I've read once people know the sequence for installing the software and the 424 card it goes without a hitch I'm begining to feel like the redheaded stepchild here,, all I get from Motu is H'mmm it shouldn't do that and then they insist on me doing all the things that I've done and tried a thousand times before "that didn't work" I've checked my pcie slots to make sure they function and no I don't know anybody that has a computer with a pcie slot so that I could try to see if it works in their computer, is there anyone out there having the same problem? recording has been out of commision for a week now. any more Ideas or advice would be greatly appreaciated

My son stopped by and had my MOTU up and running in about 5 minutes, he loaded the drivers individually somehow using the install wizard {which MOTU says can't or shouldn't be done)he says he didn't have time to tell me step by step how he did it but he will when he stops by again later. When he does I'll post the solution to my problem then, so that if anybody having the same, very frustrateing problem will have a possible solution.....Ron at PL

Thanx Ron that will be helpful.

Funny enough I posted a reply here last night and notice it didn't get posted. I am assuming the page must have had a time out or something when I did it. I use a tabbed browser and usually am skipping from task to task and don't watch it load.

But the info will be really helpful for sure.

This is the reply from MOTU support concerning my install problem
State change from 'Unread' to 'In progress'
Hi Rondy,
It appears that your PCI-424e is experiencing an issue that warrants repair. When, where, and from whom was it purchased?
This is my reply to them.....
I don't think there is anything really wrong with my card because my son always seems to get the MOTU 24 I/O working for me. I believe the problem is in the software you provide. He told me his secret for installing 424 card today and it works ,1st,open start menu, right click on my computer, 2nd left click on properties left click on hardware tab, left click device manager then choose ( left click) sound and video game controllers right click on yellow question mark and choose "update drivers", the hardware update wizard appears, there are three choices, left click on the one that says "no not at this time". Then left click" next" then you have two choices. Left click on" install from a list or specific location". Then left click" next". Then left click "search for the best driver in these locations" option, and left click on search removeable media (floppy, CD-ROM...)then click next and presto the drivers are installed! I personally think your software needs some help, but untill you guys get on the ball this will work for now its a little troublesome but hey it works, this install method was not available anywhere on the net where I could find it. Hopefully this info will help out another poor soul like me. "Still love my MOTU" nothin else will do, Ron

My MOTU 24I/O is purring like a kitten now
