Kudos to St. Paul Police (and supportive units)

what a weekend...I go to the state fair with the wife and kids, accross the bridge decks are protesters for the RNC going on in St Paul...which is cool, peaceful, non-intrusive protesters spouting their messages, that's fine, even American! God bless 'em...

Well, down town was another matter, thankfully I did go there, but there was a group of anarchists (they call themselves that, not my wording) that supported no cause, had no message, just wanted to wreck **** and get in the way of everything.

Turns out over 200 were arrested, 100+ for felony charges, the video I saw of cops were them just standing there taking verbal beatings from stupid punks...man, the self control there...sheesh.

Anyway, they wrecked a lot of stuff, broke storefront windows, threw garbage cans and CEMENT benches around, but nothing totally serious, thanks to the organization and methodical work of our local law enforcement.

Kudos, I hope the whole week isn't like this. Ya wanna protest, and you have a message, bring it on, ya wanna just be a jerk, go away.

sheesh, that makes sense.

<protester> I wanna be heard!

<cops> Ok, go ahead.

<protester> . . . .

Makes you wonder what type of world they really want.

They want nothing, just to raise hell, protest all authority of any sort...I have often wondered, if true anarchy did exist, how much these anarchists, or anybody else, would actually like it...I mean, no rule, organization, authority and whatnot sounds very free at first thought, but really thinking about it, it'd suck.

...I'd rather live in a socialistic society than no society...without some semblance of order, nobody ever achieves anything...I dunno, just contemplating out loud I guess...

Pure anarchy does not exist. The fact that they acted in mass shows conformity to some social order. The closest thing we have is the middle east where governments evolved via violance. Drop ship their usless asses over there where they belong.

Sounds like your just starting to have the fun that we had here in Philly 8 years ago.

I think that you are only at the tip of the iceberg right now. Wait until the major players show up. That's when the fun really gets started.

But, I do agree with all of you. What is the sense of having your voice heard, if you have nothing to say?

I tune down down...

There is a book that I read in High School... I think it was the Anarchist Cookbook... Anyway, it said and showed all these ways to be a non-conforming, self-serving, independent anarchist... Then, at the end of the book told you that there is no possible way to be totally free of everything. It described how you will always be a slave to being human. It was a really good book, but I didn't agree with most of it.

Even the sense of being alive is constraint enough to want to be upset at times... But, people that cause terror because of their lack of self control should be introduced to that lady from Matilda!

I have that book, well, the post-67 version, where it was substantially edited, it's a very interesting read though, some things are incredibly easy.

I disagree with some of that info being out there, but since it is, I wanted it, which was his point, bad people have the info, good people need to to protect themselves...I disagree with his philosophy that as long as you steal from big companies it's OK, not little people, that's just messed up, but yeah, interesting book.

I have a newer version on floppy disc's. That was one of Tuna's great little finds. He never actually started reading it though as he picked a few pages out to gaze at and decided it wasn't what he thought.

I guess things are picking up over there now. Just received news that Amy Goodman of Democracy Now was just arrested with some protesters.

I assume that she was there interviewing the so called anarchist. And got swept up with them.

Things are about to get more interesting over there.

Yeah, it sounds like things got REALLY ugly yesterday, people throwing feces and urine at cops and other people, wrecking stuff.

WHAT IN THE HELL makes somebody feel they have a right to throw bodily waste at another person, WHAT IN THE HELL makes you feel so superior that you have some right to do that.

Friggin disgusting.

I like the local jail's quote tho..."we have about 300 inmates, and room for A LOT more".

You know, it's dingbats like this that make people look down on me when I tell them I'm in a punk band.

People who rotate to the extremes of their convictions, left or right, always have a tendency to use violence. Basically it originates from feelings of being powerless. The stronger those feelings the more violence and radicalism.

There has been some funny video on the news of these anarchists trying to break down baracades, and they couldn't, one dude running up behind a cop and hitting him, then running away, running like the first time my sister wore high heels or something, total riot...they couldn't lift up garbage cans to flip...

bahahaha, buncha pussies.

Ya dB, I caught a few of those myself. I was very pleased to see the media was treating them like the morons they are. I have to paraphrase as I don't remember the commontators exact words, but it was something like "Way to go HoJo, guess you showed that park bench".
