Havn't tried that mic so please take this with a grain of salt. The Nady equipment I have tried has been kinda "imitation". A little like Rad Shack but not that discusting. I guess the other thing to consider is that that was seven or eight years ago. I was so turned off that I haven't tried Nady again. They may have improved their quality since then. I would have no idea.

When MF blow's out product like that, especially that cheap, it mean's the gear did not sell well. Maybe because it was crap, or maybe because it just did not gain a rep.

I personally love cheap crap, they all have a very differant colour when you use them in the proper setting's. But that is just me, I ;have spent year's learning how to get differant sound's out of $5.00-$10.00 mic's.

Any of the mic's in that price range will work fine. Go to the Musician's Friend link on our front page and click on it. Then you can search for mic's there. They have plenty of them in that price range.

Well for $80 I don't think you'll find a better mic than the trusted SM57. I know it's not condenser but it's better than any other $80 mic I've ever heard.

My $.02

i would recommend the marshall mxl2001. i dont think mf advertises it anymore. but it is an exceptional mic for its price. lots of detail and really warm sounding. new i think it goes for 149$. ive used it for a long time and been happy with the results. but now ive upgraded to an AT4047s/v

I believe, I have read a couple of post's in the past here that refered to it as being pretty warm sounding, and not a bad deal for the price.

I personally have not used one. But I do use a lot of Berhinger gear and I have not had any problem's with their stuff.

I would have to second still4given on the SM57. I swear by it. You can use those nifty little things for ANYTHING. And the price is right.

What brand is that SM mic? I've seen it mentioned here but I don't use one so I don't know. I want to check it out though, since you all say it's so good.

You can even stir a cocktail with it, and then sing with it in about ten minute's.

Having an SM57 in your microphone arsenal should be a law. You can record with it, as Noize said, mix your drink, throw it at unruly session players and then go back and record some more.

I second the law. I accidently ran over one with my Blazer before... and the little bastard (can I say that?) still works. Now THAT'S quality. Try THAT with a condensor!
