1010 LT or DMP3 and Audiophile 2496

I was going to buy the DMP3 and 2496 but i saw the 1010LT had a preamp for it's mic inputs. I don't need the phantom power as i'm using the SM 58 mic. So does anyone know what setup is better?

IMO:
The DMP3 is a nice little preamp, i use one fairly regularly and like it more and more. However the 1010LT is much more of an interface. Personally i would go with the 1010LT because it has 8 inputs (as opposed to only 2 on the audiophile). I cant speak on the usability of the 1010LT because i have never owned one, but I do have a pair of 1010's with the DMP3 that seems to work out nicely for what i use it for.

Personally, I haven't talked to many folks that like the 1010lt, everybody likes the 1010, but the LT has it's issues, if memory serves...

If you're looking for preamp quality, the DMP3 smokes the pres in the 1010LT. It's not even a fair fight.

The 2496 rocks, but it requires an outboard mic preamp.

Yep, the 2496 is a great card for a great price.

hmm, i used a 1010lt for quite a while, and it seemed to work quite well. I didn't use the preamps on it though, instead using a yama MG mixer for it's preamps, feeding into the 1010lt.

actually, it did have one major flaw, it didn't survive a house fire very well =).

To utilize the higher input count, you would still need more preamps to feed it, so you may be better with the DMP+AP. Keep your cost down, plus get a better preamp.

imho, ymmv, etc.
