Can anyone help? My nephew is trying to create a demo CD. I was wondering if there's any software that I could use for him to do it thru my computer. He is broke and can't afford studio time. I was thinking about a karaoke program. Any suggestions?

Yep, that is a good one for free and will do just what you need. Simply drop in an audio track and then set up a track to record the vocal over.

There are several free programs out there that will work as well. pjk should be along soon and might point the way to a program called Reaper that works well also.

Audacity is also great program for free recording through a computer. I've personally found this one to be easier and more user friendly for beginners, just my opinion though. We also had some basic music tech projects where we had to use audacity. Pretty decent. Good luck!
